bottom seals of the steering house
« on: January 13, 2014, 16:03:26 »
Hello Friends,

I have a leak at the bottom of the steering house. I shy away from opening the SH, everybody tells me it is complicated and that it has a high risk for mistakes. Since mine is only leaking from underneath I have hope that I can suffise by replacing the bottom seals only. So, I have taken the pitman arm off and replaced the main seal that sits in the cover, around the axe. So far so good.

My question is regarding the oval rubber seal that I found. It is not in the sachet that I bought with new seals. Morever, the big O rings that I have in the new set, seem to be slightly larger than the oval one... so I dont think that I should use any of those? What am I missing here, gents?

I attach a pic to show what I mean: on the left hand side of the screw driver the oval seal, on the right hand side the content of the overhaul package.
Is it a good idea to apply a loctite seal too?

Thanks for your help guys, have fun!
