Removing headlight switch knob
« on: October 17, 2013, 12:30:19 »
Does anyone know how to remove the knob (that sits in the cabin) from the switch unit (that sits behind the dashboard) on a 1964 230SL?

I bought a replacement switch as the current one does not keep the fog lights on, but the engineer who is doing the work is not sure how to get the existing knob off & therefore can't get the existing unit out. He thought that it would be by removing a grub screw, but he can't find one.

Any ideas?

TIA

EDITED TO ADD: I have looked at the Tech Manual, and if I have to remove the tacho then I fear that it is not worth the cost or effort to swap out the headlight switch. Sorry!

It's a push-fit switch, maybe a little tight but  just pull directly out and it will come off.
