Passenger footwell wet
« on: June 02, 2013, 13:19:07 »
Driving in the rain yesterday I noticed water leaking onto the passenger footwell , is there any easy way to clean the drainage pipe out. I tried a flexable brush into the pipe from the engine bay but I guess it didnt work ?

Make sure the rubber hose is not cracked.

Correct, it sounds like a cracked drain hose in the passenger side.  Old rubber for sure.

No, you can get to it from under the dash.

I took the cowling off in front of windshield ,found a drain hole and ran a small flexable brush thru it it was clean . The rubber hose under the dash looks fine but I will take it off tomorrow , where does that hose collect water from and where does it drain to ?

Another source for leakage into the front footwell, if not the drain pipe can be from the spindle of the wiper.   One way to check is to have someone carefully pour water on the spindle from outside and see if you notice it dripping or running in from under after doing that. There is a seal on it that sometimes fails and lets water in there.

Did you read all the replies in the linked topic?  ???
In reply #1 Benz Dr writes: you will see a rubber tube for the scuttle box, the drains for the box go through the car and out into the engine bay.
