loud valves after top end rebuild on my 62 220seb
« on: August 07, 2012, 17:05:06 »
I have a 65 230sl that purrs.  My 62 220 seb coupe is much louder.  The top end was done and it has about 100 miles on it.  I need to re torque and adjust the valves.  Does anyone know the sequence and torque amount?  As for the valves, I think I need some kind of special wrench.  What are the cold clearences for both intake and exhaust.  Never done this on a mercedes but have adjusted other cars in the past.

Bob,

As a full member, you have access to the valve adjusting tour found in the tech manual and schrol down to the full member content.

Should have all of the info you need.

Also be careful that you dont over tighten the rocker cover as this then rubs on the cam carriers and the resulting sound is just like mis adjusted valves.
