This may not help below, but a LH drive. On my LH drive '68 W111 coupe 6 cyl., the aircon hose go through the same location on the firewall as this 3.5. While I don't have a/c installed, the two holes are semi-cut out in the pad from the factory.

I have mate here who has a 250SE coupe with holes for the factory air. he is away in chile at the moment so if you are not in a hurry I will get pics as soon as he is back. On my W109 the holes are on the passenger side about 50 mm above the body's firewall box section crossmember ( the one behind the engine. )

Was your car sold new in NZ? I  was born in TeKuiti and the local Lime quarry owners had a gold one.

Hi Mirkwood, I'm up the highway at Te Awamutu. The coupe was NZ new and is silver. A/C is different to a 109,
coupes have a diffferent firewall. I have lots of photos of LH drive set up but still trying for RH drive.
Thanks for your offer. Did you ever see the alum. body gullwing that was in storage for 25 years and owned by
Dr. Barrett in Tekuiti ? ( that was a real barn find )

I knew Dr Barrett but never knew there was a Gull wing there!  Where can i find info on that?
in fact lots of rare and interesting cars were hidden away Around TeKuiti ,such as a nice prewar Sunbeam, A hudson Racer from the early 20's, A few 1932 Fords which fetch insane money today and others.
my Family came from Kawhia/Raglan  and the ancestors figured prominently in Te Awamutu with the king Country being named for my direct ancestors, the maori King Te wherowhero.  my mate is still In Chile for a few more days but i just realized that he has two RHD air con coupes,a 250SE and a W112 300SE. He should be home this weekend i think.
Cheers!

Just got sent a pic from my mate (who is working in Chile) .This is his number 3 coupe which he has just bought. it has had $44,000 worth of panel work done before being abandoned by the owner who refused to pay the bill. My mate got it for less than a tenth of that . You can see the air con hose holes on the far left of the firewall .Thats not me,I have more hair on my head....ha ha

Hi.
Maybe my picture file my1970  280se 3.5 might help you.
Many of you know the story. The guy I bought it from used it for parts to make his 1970 6 cylinder low nose cabriolet a 3.5. I was lucky to get the restoration shop's complete picture file. I, in turn bought what was left of the 3.5 coupe and all of the low nose 6 cylinder cabriolet remains. There are alot of great reference shots.
see the pictures here:
