Yes very nice.  One of my todo destinations.  What colour is your car (050, 717)?  It looks like there is a bit of an ivory tint to the white.  Maybe it is just the lighting.

Lots of snow here at present and it is really blowing today so I will have to wait awhile longer before I can go for a nice drive. :'(

The snow is gone here. Now i hope of some sunny days in the next weeks. I restored the HT two years ago and i like it to drive the coupe in winter.
But driving open in summer is the real thing. 8)

Peter, Great photos! Your SL sure looks right at home on it's drive along the Mosel. We are taking a cruise from Trier to Nuremberg later this year and are very much looking forward to revisiting that beautiful part of your country. Wish I could bring my SL along.

I've been to the Mosel a couple times and I think it's the most lovely travel destination of all. What a blessing to have a Pagoda in that setting! Thanks for posting. I hope I get the chance to visit again someday.

I was wondering if the 2012 European Event should be somewhere around there.... Wine, countryside and not too far from Stuttgart....

Tosh,
It's going to be hard to top the location that Peter and Cees found for us last year.  But the Mosel would be one to consider.  A couple of years ago, BK and I attended the auto show in Essen, drove south to the Nurburgring where I ran a few laps, and then continued through the Mosel and on to Stuttgart.  Along the way we spent a night in Beilstein and diverted to have lunch in Luxembourg just to say we had.  The Mosel is a lovely drive with a few interesting little side roads.  Would Trier be a good place to consider visiting on a Mosel Valley weekend?

I think the Middle Mosel between Bernkastel and Cochem is the best place. :) I live there  ;D
There is not so much traffic on the streets, old towns and endless vineyards on both sides of the river.

I hope i get some time to make more pictures.

www.neumuehle-enkirch.de here is my webside. I will be happy if someone visit me on his next mosel vacation. We drink a glass or two mosel wine and have a good time.  8)

Today John and his wife visit me along a mosel cruise in Enkirch. We had only 2 hours before the ship is leaving Traben Trarbach. So we make only a short sightseeing tour and drink a glass wine..
It was nice to speak with a man who lives 43 years with his pagoda... and his wife.
John, hope i can meet you in California next time.

My wife and I were so happy to meet Peter and his family. It was truly the high point of our trip to Germany. His pagoda is beautiful and I only wish we had more time so we could have gone for a ride In his 280SL in the beautiful contyside around his home. We are already planning a driving trip to this part of the world so we could spend a night or two at his hotel. What a place! I took a few photos as well and will post when we get home in September.

Thanks again Peter, it was a privilege to meet you.

Ah yes, Trier to Bernkastel-Kues drive... schoen(?)  The bear fountain-still there?  Was there in the 70s.  Very problematic area.  Believe I caught the Mercedes contagion on the banks of the Mosel.  No known cure for the ' Benz disease'.

We flew home from Munich (magnificent airport by the way) yesterday, arriving back at our home here in California late last night and am still in bit of a fog adjusting to the 10 hour difference. I wanted to post a few photos of Peter's beautiful SL and thank him again for the hospitality that he offered my wife and I on our recent visit to that part of the world that Peter calls home.

John

PS Peter's was the only Pagoda we saw during the 4 weeks that we were in Europe. The closest was a very nice R107 with it's top down in Oslo.
