Picture of under-cowl area needed
« on: September 23, 2010, 21:59:15 »
Continuing to plod along on re-assembly in the dash/cowl area.

Does anyone have a picture, descrption, or PNs of the fittings that secure the cables as they pass through this area?  I am assuming that the little tabs welded to the shell have some sort of cable clamp, but nothing is exactly leaping out of the parts pile and the EPC is not a lot of help.

Picture attached.

Thanks,

Hello Clay,

The tabs hold little flat leaf spring clips.  They are used on the other end of the cables in the dash also if I recall correctly. They are quite common to the era in sedans etc. If you need some let me know and I can pick a handful from the "south forty" for you. May be able to snap a picture for you in the next day or two.

Take care,

Thanks, guys.  I do have some of those clips.  They are in the EPC, as "Lock plate."

All ot the handles in my heat/vent control unit are broken, one of the plastic lights is broken, and the cables are frozen.  So I sucked it up and bought a new one from MB.

I will post some pictures of the cable clamps next week.

Cheers,

Here's a picture of the cables and clamps installed with hardware store grommets since the MB part was on backorder.  Also got the new heater/vent control installed as well as the outside vent and grille assembly.
