Alloy wheel centre caps
« on: July 30, 2010, 05:38:13 »
Were these metal on the Fuchs bundt style alloys available from 1969? Every one I've seen has been plastic, until today, when I saw metal centre caps, but I couldn't tell if they were originals, repros, non-standard etc.

Thanks

David

All ones I've ever seen were plastic. Maybe the metal ones are after market.

J have a set of early bundt alloys with the alloy caps that I've had for twenty years.  I believe they are original.

Could be. They have a small curricular spring that pushes on a number of tabs which holds it in place. Metal tabs wouldn't work as well as plastic which is why I think that's what they're made of.
I think they're painted silver like the rims are.

Hello,

The earliest version of the center caps were all metal.  Quite difficult to find these days.
