Infamous Rheostat
« on: April 01, 2010, 06:23:18 »
  Hi guys ,
All the lights on my dashboard are out ( fuses are okay as well bulbs on the speedometer & rev counter). My suspicion is the rheostat . But my problem is how to get the middle cluster out (the one with the oil pressure gauge etc). I got the two on both sides out, but i just cant get the middle one out to check therheostat. Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably is the rheostat. This cluster should be fixed the same as the speedo and rev counter, a bracket with knurled nut on. Be careful of capillary tube for temp gauge. Best to leave
attached and leave temp gauge in car. (Gauge is fairly easy to remove from cluster) You can then work on rheostat on the bench. Hope this helps.

The Tech Manual has instructions and info about the instruments under Electrical System then Dashboard Instruments.
