Windshield Washer Pump and Motor

 I have the early Windshield Washer Pump and Motor for a 63 230SL with the shield and am looking for a workling unit or someone who can restore my pump

Just bought one from an online supplier. 65.00 and it looks like the original off my 1965.  Is yours plastic and sealed with rivets?

The post doesnt show what the pump looks like. My pump is plastic and from germany but you cant see it also because I have a cover like yours. Is yours metal?  If so maybe it can be rebuilt.  Do you have a picture of the original?  Thanks

I took mine apart (it wasn't riveted but held together with tiny screws), cleaned it and gave it a little WD40 - works fine now...

The early ones with the shield are all riveted together.  I am afraid without the proper tools and rivets I may damage the pump.  I could be a simple fix.

I have the same one you do.  The rivets came off easy and you can replace them with bolts. My pump is seized and being plastic will make it too difficult to rebuild.  I will still try though.  The pump I bought is diiferent but the guts might be the same.  I may ruin the new one to fix the original. I let you know how that works.

Well I got the pump apart today and it was not too smooth.  The most difficult part is the pulling the gear off the electrical motor.  I destroyed the motor because of that small gear.  That gear is pressed on and it is tight.  You must pull it off to get the motor back together.  The commutator has brushes riding on it and it is near impossible to get it together because the gear doesnt give you the room you need to get the brushes back in place.  If you can get this gear off, a good cleaning and lubrication of the motor will probably do the trick to fix your problem.  Since I ruined mine, I cut the mounting area off and epoxyed it to the new washer motor.  I will mount it as the original was but position of the hose connections be different.  Hope I helped a little bit.

Jessie, I can't tell you how many things I broke taking the dash apart.  Thanks for the heads up.  I guess that is why my gut told me to find someone who repairs these pumps.
