Help - i did a "body off" restoration - Pagoda US Version Bj 1970 SL 280 with Transistorignition.
I got troubles with the wiring laying among Idle increase solenoid 51, Fuse box 29, KickDown 53 and Venturi control unit switch.
Can you illustrate the laying and the colours of the cables between this units.

Best regarts and maaany thanks!Willi

Hello Willi,
welcome to the group. As a full member you have access to the color version of the wiring diagram in the technical Manual: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Restricted/ColorWiringDiagrams
This might help you identifying the wires for the different units, especially in conjunction with this information: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/WiringDiagram
As to the routing of these wires I cannot help much but I suggest that you take a look at the pictures of the 280SL cars on this site: http://www.motoringinvestments.com/MainPage.htm
Select "Mercedes" and then look at each car's pictures. There are some shots of the engine bay and perhaps you can see where the wires are located and routed.
Good luck!

Hello Alfred,
Thanks for your rapid response. I also found one year ago the home page of motoringinvestments, i´m really impressed. And now with my done
extensive "body off" restoration, i want to turn back time, take a plane and purchase an Pagoda from this company.
But back to my problem the uncolored wiring diagram is comparable to my car, the colored isn't it. So i can't find out the wiring colors among Idle increase solenoid 51, Fuse box 29, KickDown 53 and Venturi control unit switch.
Seeking Willi

Willi,

in that case this wiring diagram should help you: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/uploads/Electrical/280slwiringdiagram.pdf

However, figuring out the colours is a bit tougher, and requires a little sluithing in all available documents!
