Extra mystery wire for IP starting solenoid
« on: March 26, 2009, 05:07:37 »
I have a brown wire that is bent over and taped to the wire that is attached to the starting solenoid on the injection pump on my '68 M130. It looks to be factory because the terminal and insulator are exactly the same as the attached wire. My solenoid does not have an extra terminal for this wire to connect to. I do have the second solenoid (fuel shut off)but it has its own wire and harness and does not have the extra brown wire.

I recall reading that earlier solenoids used a grounding wire as well and considering that my bent wire is brown, I wonder if that is what it was meant for. My car is an early '68 so maybe this harness was left over from the early solenoids that needed the ground wire?

Does anybody have any thoughts about this?
