Has anyone repainted their wheel hubs black, or is it preferrable to powder coat them ?

I powder coated my 190b wheels and they look great and will last ten times as long (I hope!).  Cost was $50 each.

I would think just painting the wheels flat black, after a proper coat of primer, will preserve them as well as powder coating. Cost would be maybe $2 each?

p.s. can you tell I'm a "cheap Dutchman"?
