I have a rotational squeaky noise from the rear wheels . It's frequently increases  then decreases with the speed of the vehicle.
I thought it might have been the discs or hand break but the sound continues when I apply both.  I wondered if it might be wheels bearing or something in the axel gearbox.
I would appreciate any suggestions from any experienced member.

Thank you

Tom.   ( in England)

Hi, I have the same issue as described. Rear brakes checked out ok. Currently having the drive shaft rebalanced and new u joints installed next week, will see if this fixes it like Charles. If drive shaft and u joint don't fix then trail arm bushings.

Maybe one of the backing plates that is touching the brake disk. Or a small stone caught between the disk and the plate.

Thank Charles,  I didn't  think of that as the cause but I will definitely consider it.

Many thanks,

Tom

Hi Alex
It seems from what you say it can be difficult to pin point the problem and could result in unnecessary work until you find a cure. I haven't facilities to do the work myself so use a local SL experienced engineer which can ramp up the cost unfortunately.  I have scheduled to deliver the car to them next Tuesday for a fault-find mission and will let you know the outcome.

Regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

These are things I needed to do regardless of the squeaking, initially it looks like the rear breaks are fine, rebalanced drive shaft with new u joints next week and by mid/end of March will have new trail arm bushings.  Will let you know what I find.

If anyone else has any suggestions I am willing to listen and try.

Alex
