While I was waxing the console timber I had my ashtray out. I forget which way it should be re-installed. Is the lid hinge towards the back or front of the console? (Back being near the back of the seats. Front being near the transmission selector).

The Ashtray opens to the back of the car. The hinge faces front. There should be a notch in the wood that accommodates the hinge.
