Front bumper mounting rails
« on: November 17, 2023, 20:21:09 »
I have a 1971  280 SEL in and the front bumper mounting rails are rusted out. Are these parts, inner and outer, the same as used on a 111 coupe or sedan?

I am afraid not.

I took W108058, which is SEL 3.5L, not sure which one you have...

Left side rails:
Inner A 108 885 03 40
Outer A 108 885 01 40

Right hand side
Inner A 108 885 04 40
Outer A 108 885 01 40

Taking inner left for example - the system says only W108 and W109
Taking the outer left - same, unfortunately.

W111 have their mounting rails with 111 designation, e.g. A 111 885 00 40 inner. Same for left and right.

Nope, they are not the same.  W111 and W112 coupe and convertibles are straight from left to right, when passing under radiator.
W108, W109 and W111 sedan(fintail) are the same with the down ward drop under the radiator.
I myself just found a good used one from a 1968 280S sedan and cut it off.
Will do that soon on mine.
