Convoys & routes to PagodaFest 2023

Convoys
Some people may be less comfortable than others when it comes to driving their Pagodas long distance.  Does anyone want to arrange convoys to Chicago?  I won't have a Pagoda, but would be happy to meet up and drive together with anyone coming through Ohio to Chicago.

Routes
Chicago area residents:
- Is it better to approach Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook via I-294 or I-355?
- Is it better to get to those highways via I-94 or US-30?
By "better", I mean which road has better quality surface and less traffic?

And, of course, we should all fill up our tanks before getting into Chicago proper, right?

I'm so looking forward to this!  I haven't been to a big Pagoda event since Williamsburg, VA for the 50th!  That was fun times.

I need to me at the event mid afternoon, so planning to leave CMH early, assuming it will take 6 to 7 hours.  Alan is planning to drive his Pagoda as well.  I was addvised to take rt 80 to rt 294 to circumvent downtown.  We'll need specific directions before the ride.

This will be fun.

If you and anyone who wants to drive together is comfortable on the Interstates, that's probably the way to go.  US-30 goes from Mansfield, OH through Ft. Wayne, IN and enters into the south side of Chicago a little further south of I-80/I-90.  I thought it might be a little more casual drive with less congestion, maybe a nicer surface, maybe less construction, but I don't know.  I'm hoping Chicago members will chime in.  I've never driven to or in Chicago.  And, I-355 is a little west of I-294 so I was hoping it might be less busy just because it is a little further from downtown Chicago.

Anyone driving all the way from PA, NY, NJ, VA, or other places east of Ohio?

I will be coming from the Charlotte area, and don't plan on doing it all in one day. Probably leave on Wednesday and finish up on Thursday, like Mike M. will need to be there Thursday early afternoon.

I've driven to and through Chicago from Columbus many times for work. From NW Columbus/Dublin you want to take 33 to 30 through/around FT Wayne. That is the fun way in a Pagoda.

70W from west Columbus through Indianapolis then I65 N is a faster route, but more boring of a drive, and more construction.

Anyone drive from the southeast? I am planning on coming up from Albany, GA and plan on doing the trip in 2 days. Thanks, in advance.
