I am not aware of an option code for an arm rest for the w113 chassis.  Without a valid option code, one must conclude it is not original to the car.

If there is a Mercedes part number on this, it would be interesting to know the number and see if it starts with 113.  Not definitive but an interesting item.

The windscreen for my w113 was purchased at the Classic Center and has a MB part number that begins with w113.  It is specific to the w113 chassis.  However, it was made available after the production of the car ceased.

If it has an MB part number, it could be of similar origin.  One of our members is offering this, maybe he can add to the discussion.

Best,

Tom

WOW news travels fast

got this armrest with my German import , the original leather of the seats match the leather of the armrest and fits very well on the coin tray . this may be from the same era .If not original I guess it would make a nice upgrade to the car <if you like an armrest>.this part is a mercedes part .

thanks

Klaus uses one on his 280SL. His is parchment. I think he said it was from a W123 Coupe.

I think the group including one of our members that is offering it for sale have determined that it is not original to the w113 chassis, but is a Mercedes part that will fit the center console box on the w113 chassis.  I don't think the member says in the listing that it is original to the w113 chassis.

Best,

Tom

Hello Tom and all,
Unless my eyes are bad and words do not mean what they say, This ads main title states "mercedes 113 230sl 250sl 280sl armrest" Thus this is not what this item is but a mercedes era part to fit the above. A better word choice would have been not original too but fits yet from different model of era. Using just mercedes era part that fits "" would have been clear to all. Thanks Jason

The part is indicated and pictured in my 1967 Mercedes-Benz Special Equipment brochure:

"Center Cushion - For all Mercedes-Benz cars without floor-change. The center cushion, when used in conjunction with the foldable armrest, gives the advantage of a bench-type seat in front."

Hello,
Sounds like what I was stating, since when did mbz offer a w113 without a wood coin console? So this would not have been used for a w113. Gee, if they did it must have been some rare option. Wish I had it in my 71 280sl :D . Jason

Hello All,
This site is about w113, questions and restorations. Sorry that I am a purest when it comes down to a w113 on keeping it original. I like to keep mine genuine not monkeyed up. I am only a purest and would hope others would do the same to keep a w113 such. Its obvious I have a deep desire and interest in w113s to spend such time even as a surgeon. I find time to keep the w113 world a bit pure who can fault that.

OK, there's nothing wrong with wanting to have a nice car. For some people, getting all the little details just right gives them a lot of personal satisfaction. And why not? It's a great past time.

I'm somewhere in between. I like a nice car but I drive them so hard they tend not to stay fresh for very long. My cars run really well, or at least I focus on that mostly. A freshly restored car only looks good if you use it during nice weather and keep the miles down. This takes constant care and attention which I don't always have the time for. It also takes up storage room and I own several cars - most of them don't run. If you have one car, go nuts. Do it to the nines and enjoy.

Everyone has a different approach and I approach everything differently. There's a place at this table for everyone and that's why we formed this group in the first place.( Everyone,  member  or not, can enjoy their cars a little bit more than just having one and then wondering if there's anyone else that has one too. A look at the roster will tell you there are still a lot of 113's out there )

Some clubs become elite because big money takes over. I think that's the wrong approach and a friendly low key attitude is our best feature. Besides, I don't have any money so I tend to be naturally low key ~)

I've found that after all the tech stuff has been covered 20 times over the tendancy is to drift towards cosmetic details. Sometimes this can go into unintended directions and feelings can get hurt. This is the internet after all and there's a person behind each clicking finger at the keyboard.

So, relax. Have fun. That's all we want here. Right?
