How often should be the chain replaced ?

everytime you:
- think about it
- have no clue about when it has been done
- see as I saw a dramatic / dangerous mistiming of the chain...

Mine was 1cm longer than the new one (see in the vid) and my clock shows 49,000 kms (put 1 or 2 before...)

Apparently the combo chain + chain tensioner can last for a while but the (reasonnable) price speaks itself to change it

The chain itself is quite cheap but the tensioner and the guide rails cost a lot . Did you buy the guide rails made by mastic or metal ?
Any symptoms of a bad chain ?

As far as I understood you can’t really change the guides without really envisaging big works as an overhaul but maybe I’m wrong. Anyway I replaced what appears logical and « easy » even if it’s not a good criteria

Engine was running extremely bad and timing was wrong by far. So replacing chain and tensioner appeared as a must and minimum. I shall have also probably changed the camshaft gear as it also appears worn (see in the vid…)
