Seat frame colour query
« on: March 28, 2018, 15:35:32 »
Hi forum,

I stripped one of my seats and noticed the frame itself could do with some cleaning and painting.  It has a green/grey finish on it.  Can anyone direct me to a similar coloured paint for the frame please?  I assume this colour/paint is basically the undercoat and finishing coat in one.

Regards

Yes, Steven ...,

Your observation is absolutely correct.
A greenish-gray paint that is most likely more of a primer than a finish.
Does do its job over the life expectation decently ::)
but not perfect..;
on poor cars rust of the seat frames occurs. :P

When I redid my seats on my car I primed them with 2 K and painted (sprayed) the seat frames with a colo(u)r code pretty close to what it was originally.

Yes after such a long time I can only see some small patches of surface rust which is encouraging.  I shall remove this, teat it and look for something similar in colour.  I guess once they are rebuilt there will be no exposed areas of concern anyway.

Ditzler DP40 is my primer of choice to match the grey/green primer of our cars.  Hopefully, it is available over there.  The center of the body is DP40

Hi Shvegel,

Sorry, what do you mean by the center of the body?  Do you mean the insides of the box sections?

In the above picture where there isn't the white underseal.  The bottom of the driveshaft tunnel.

I may have found a supplier in the UK for this paint and as it's used as the undercoat anyway I may as well get some.

Looks like PPG Industries UK Ltd supply this paint.  I shall contact them.

Thanks for your help with this.
