Constant Speed Solenoid Adjustment?
« on: September 03, 2004, 11:55:21 »
Hi, I have a 1970 280sl automatic that has a working constant speed solenoid, the adjustment nut is spinning free so I have to assume my CSS is not adjusted properly. How is this CSS adjusted? Haynes has two methods, one that calls for putting car in gear and adjusting such that an idle of 700rpm is achieved, the other calls for a clearance of .1-.2 mm, which is correct?  My car was originally an A/C car, but A/C equipment has been removed.  Help!  Joe, are you out there? thanks again!

James,
I had this problem last year; adjustment is straightforward: get someone to put car in gear and watch revs drop off; then turn screw until same revs as idle (+/- 700-800) is achieved.
Good luck !
