Timing chain rail
« on: July 16, 2013, 02:19:39 »
Hello Joe, I am changing my top rail on the timing chain. I got a new one, Febi, from Autohauz. It does not match the original from MB. The old one is aluminum and plastic with grooves. The new replacement one is all plastic and no grooves for the chain. I will try to post the photos. Not sure if I should use the new version. It looks pretty chintzy comapred to the original. The ones for my later 380's are all smooth ones and that is what they use. What are the new ones like from Mercedes. JPG: 2634 is new rail; 2627 is new and old one. 2635 looking at the back side; 2636 is old one with aluminum back with the spring wire that holds it on the pins. Thanks, Carey

Hello Carey,

All the new chain rails are plastic no matter where you get them at.  I like the aluminum and rubber originals but they are no longer available.
