I have the stainless steel MB cap on my car. When I had some chrome work done the plater polished the stainless so that it looks like chrome. It was starting to discolor a little so I took it off and buffed it on a buffing wheel on my grinder. Here is a pic.
It's hard to photo chrome but I think you get the idea. It looks great on the car

That does look nice (although I still prefer the locking chrome cap). Interesting how with polishing and buffing metal can look like chrome.
