RHD Pagoda Wanted for Film Role
« on: September 21, 2025, 21:18:23 »
On one of the Facebook W113 groups, an announcement appeared, that a Darren Litten, who is MD at Action Vehicles
(email: darren@actionvehicles.com), is looking for a RHD Pagoda for one of his film projects.

Perhaps someone in this group might be interested?

I did contact them, but my white car isn't suitable it seems, they specifically want a Thistle Green one.  Not sure if that's a pagoda colour, but that's what they want.

Thistle Green (881) is a later Mercedes color from the late 70s/80s, often seen on W123, W116 or R107. It’s a light metallic green with a grey/olive tint. Pagodas (W113) didn’t come in that shade originally, so finding one in Thistle Green might be tricky – that will be a real challenge for them.

Wrap it!
It all depends on the budget, but wrapping would definitely be the simplest solution – especially if they insist on that specific color, which in fact comes from the R107.

There’s a saying in the movie industry… and our former president Ray Hays will probably laugh if he reads this.

“We’ll fix it in Post!”

Meaning, any issues will be corrected in post production. Having worked in print production for many years I can tell you that changing a car color is pretty simple. Certainly a whole lot less costly than wrapping.

I recently came across some background on the Mercedes W111 Cabrio used in The Hangover with Bradley Cooper.
Turns out the production actually used five cars in total – a mix of 220SE and 280SE, and even some coupes that were converted to look like cabriolets just for the shoot.
A couple of them served as “beauty cars” for the close-ups, while others were sacrificed in stunt and crash scenes. Quite a budget commitment just for one movie!
