Mille Miglia 2025
« on: June 22, 2025, 06:29:30 »
The final stage of the 2025 Mille Miglia from Parma to Brescia was completed Yesterday.  The prior evening I was in Parma for the completion of the penultimate run.  It is always a pleasure to see such a spectacular collection of historic cars in a single event. A few pictures are attached.

It's on my bucket list too! I was thinking of "tagging" along in a Pagoda from Nostalgic Tours (associated with MB corporate)

It is fun to be on the road in the mix with them. Some of the “off the track” roads are quite scenic too. Tagging along for the whole event might be as grueling as participating in the event!

I took these pictures near Verano de’Melegari during the 2022 MM.

I see the 190SL there - I heard that particular manufacturing years can participate in MM, seems to be true...

There were four 190 SL entries this year I only saw two of them. There seem to be some nuances in the rules but basically cars of a year, make and model that participated in the event when it was an actual road race are eligible to participate in the modern event.  Thus, later production 190SLs are not eligible.

I think I heard (never verified) 1956 would fit. That is the year of my car.

Yours should fit Pawel. The last actual road race was 1957. The four 190SLs participating this year included a 1955, two 1956s and a 1957.  I haven’t looked recently but I think I recall that there is a certification procedure on the MM web site.

Beautiful cars!  I always regretted having let my 1955 go many years ago.

Great photos thank you Ralph. Thank you. It's great that you can view the race every year.  It must have been a hot day. The gull wings had their doors open and the pontoon cabriolet popped the engine lid for more cooling.
Pawel, you should definitely enter . It must be a blast. There was a nice article last year in CSC mag about 2 Italian mechanics who got a vintage Alfa Giulietta sedan and ran in the MM on a shoestring. Their bottom entry fee was like $ 16,000 euros for a car and 2 persons - hotels and festivities included.
