Hello,

My apologies if I'm in the wrong thread. I'm a new member to this message board.

My family and I are looking to part with our blue 1971 280 SL Pagoda with hardtop that we believe is in "good" condition. It's been ours from Day 1, since it was purchased brand new from the Mercedes dealer all those years ago.

Can anyone here kindly provide some suggestions for how to sell it: auction house, eBay, private sale via the web (in which case suggested websites would be helpful), etc.?

And does anyone here have any other advice that they think might be helpful to us?

Thank you very much!

This forum is an excellent place to start. Take some detailed photos, exterior, interior and chassis if you can, and post them in the “For Sale” section on this website. You must post an asking price. Good luck.

You'll have to do the pictures etc regardless - and if you have any of the original sale documents etc (even od photos of you with the car and the like) that'll really help as you have a history with the car that people might be willing to "pay for" - a documented car always seems preferred to an undocumented one (ahem...)

Some folk have had good experiences on Bring a Trailer but it seems you need to have very thick skin as the peanut gallery will likely pick your car to bits while it's listed. But that does reach a very big audience and give you true "price discovery" and you'll need to be prepared to answer lots of (what you might think to be dumb) questions
