Hello all ,
During our last Euro Event i found my SL pluming Some smoke on shifting and throttle release.
Even my fellow participants warned me so i knew i could add it to the list of things to do on return home.
Since the engine head had been done 5 years ago ( new guides ), i suspected the valve guide seals.
So everyone who has done this job know it is tedious and time consuming, but in the end I got it done .
I used the compressed air Methods with a remote starter switch . The same i use when adjusting the valve clearance .
So Gotta it all back together again to find it was not starting . Nothing not even a turn over or one ignition .
Checked if i got spark , yes . Checked if i got compression , yes 6 time 160..170 PSI.
Do i have fuel ?? The pump gives plenty and so is the cold start valve .
I loosened one of the high pressure lines and installed a spare injector with a small bag at the end , and yes I have fuel , although I don’t know what is a normal quantity ? . The rack is free ( removed the little nut on the front of the pump and with a plastic pin could move it freely ) .Removed the solenoid to check it to find that it is working .
Before i started to work on it to change the valve guide seals i ran perfectly and nothing is changed .
So what am i overlooking here ??
Hope you can help me to see the light
Greetings Rick
