Factory Image and Completed restoration
« on: February 07, 2023, 20:15:03 »
I am new to the forum as a member though I have been taking advantage of it during the 4 year restoration of our car. I really appreciate the dedication you all put into it and hope to contribute with my limited knowledge.
I recently came across this assembly line picture and will try to attach a picture of our car and thought it would be a nice way to learn how to post  :)

I think they built the car around the heater matrix/core.

As most of you probably have experienced after driving the car for a few years we wanted to make some minor improvements. Cleaning the engine bay somehow leads to a frame on full restoration. Once the car is being put apart its almost like a mystery novel where you keep turning the pages till you see how it ends. Many months/years/parts later it takes you back in time. We are lucky to have Andre Horvath in San Antonio whose hobby along with two wonderful old retired mechanics have the knowledge to do this. We took it down to bare metal, replaced all rusty parts, long block at metrics, upholstery at Marios, rebuilt injection pump, calibrated dials, radio, clean up of front end and rear end, as needed gaskets, rotors wheel bearings, brakes, new electrical wiring, replaced cracked lights, re chrome, basically went through every inch trying to find OEM parts to keep stock.
Now we are enjoying it with my beautiful wife on weekends and nights in hot San Antonio and hopefully soon our daily Summer driver during retirement in Durango Colorado.

Shock bushing retainers are on upside down. I see this a lot. Looks nice and is pretty much the current standard today.
