Saturday June 4th MBCA Toronto Section Meet
« on: June 06, 2016, 16:24:31 »
About 15 cars meet this past Saturday at the MB Performance Dealership in St. Catherines, Ontario. We then head a light lunch at the nearby Jordan House followed by a visit to the Chateau des Charmers Winery. Sharing a few photos here (my iPhone 4 quality is not the best).

Here are 4 photos at the dealership had recently undergone a 5 million dollar renovation to fully analyze performance characteristics of AMG cars. Needless to say the showroom was packed with AMG cars. The one that l liked most was the AMG GT ... Also the wall decorations catches my eye. We had a very informative tour by Chris one of the Service Representatives.

Photos below are of the three wines we tasted our final taste was a ice wine that is also made at this 280 acre winery. One photo shows the front of the Chateau and the last two an areal photograph and part of the Niagara Wine area.

Next we took the tour of the winery 35 steps down below the Chateau were the fine wine is made. Our tour guide very knowledgeable explained to us that the owner originally came from France in the mid 70s and took up employment at a local winery. There he made an attempt to convince the winery to grow European grapes. When all his effort failed he started his own winery. He now lives across the street with his wife in a slightly smaller building then his Chateau (obviously business is good), his son now runs the winery. At the end of the tour we tasted some of the wine and to top it off a nice ice wine as well.

.... A few more .... Happy to report that my car performed flawlessly the engine just hummed along on this nearly 5 hour liserly round trip. At the MB Dealership everyone came out and looked at my car, the owner of the dealership was ready to write a cheque. In a conversation I had with him we talked about how prices have increased over the past few years and that the value of my car is aproaching the $100K  mark. His reply was "I know, I'll write you a cheque right now" I told him, thanks she is not for sale. I think he wanted to put her in his showroom.

The last 15 KM on my home stretch it started to rain, oh well it's been the kind of weekend. I just washed my car removing a few bugs and rain drops.

I shall now go and taste some of the wine I purchased with my dinner :)

Happy Motoring ...

Dieter
