Hi Guys, The glass on the speedometer appears to be discolored from the lubricant drying out and the speedometer getting hot and making a noise in the head at 45mph and up. I took the rubber cap off of the back of the speedometer to get a better look at the way it is put together, thinking that I might be able to take the glass out to clean it. To me, it looks like a job for a professional. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do it or where I should send it?
I was just going to re-lube the head and put it back in, but I really don't want to have to go into it again after getting everything back in the dash.
Thanks.......

There's other posts on this topic, but essesntially you can pry off the chrome bezel yourself, clean the glass, and put it all back together without it being visible that it wasn't done professionally. Of course best to have it done profesionally and the vendor section of the website will have specialized vendors such as Palo Alto Speedometer. Good luck with the repair.

I had a similar issue, mine was discoloured and I couldn't get it cleaned.
Replacement glass is available: http://www.authenticclassics.com/New-Glass-Mercedes-speedometer-115mm-od-190SL-p/auth-005440.htm

Best,
Mike
