I am reassembling the RV mirror on my 1966 230SL and I have a question, please. I have tried to "document" everything prior to disassembly with photos so that the reassembly would go smoothly but apparently this is an area that I missed. My question involves the assembly of the small wire spring and the day/night plastic selector. It appears that the spring installs into the black selector, open end first. By this, I mean that the spring, which is shaped with an open circular bend at each end, is installed into the slot on the selector with the open side going in first. This leaves portions of the spring exposed to interlock with the grooves on the back of the small metal plate attached to the mirrored glass. A photo of the assembly would also be great if anyone has one to offer.
