Correct Rotary AC Compressor?
« on: September 19, 2014, 18:18:39 »
I have a rotary compressor in my 230sl. I can read that the label says it's a Sanden...but the model number is illegible.  Does anybody have a model number that is a correct model number.

Contact one of the suppliers for Sanden and they will be able to ID what you need.  You can also contact Vintage air or even Bud's Benz.   The Sanden SD8 was commonly used on these cars to replace the York, but you need to get the correct pulley and inlet/outlet configuration.  There are generic Sanden copy compressors out there but I would avoid those because you just don't know what you might be getting.

I have a 1971 280sl with the Sanden compressor. The number is U 9285. It has a double pulley clutch but only one belt is used. It was installed in 1999.
