Glovebox Bezel

I have a 63 230sl car number 0000671. 
I am not sure if all cars before number 0009401 as stated in production changes of Merdith's book (9401 18/2/65 glovebox lid fitted with bezel) is referring to the aluminum bezel that the arm of the glove box lid passes through at the glove box. I have seen pictures of cars with and without this bezel and am not sure if they are original or just lost on the early cars.
