rear chrome bumpers

i have just taken my rear bumpers off as i am having my pride & joy zymoled at the weekend and i was wondering whether there should rubber backings on the bumper brackets to stop the metal bracket coming into contact with the bodywork 8)  ps thanks to everyone who has given me the answers to my previous posts.
