1963-64 230sl floor mats
« on: June 02, 2008, 15:16:26 »
Has anyone installed the rubber floor mats for the early 230's. I ordered a set and the passinger side seems to fit ok however on the drivers side there is no cut out for the highbeam switch, steering column or the gas pedel.  The mat also seems too long. I checked the numbers and they are correct on the mat itself and on the benz sticker.  I would have thought that they would have been factory cut for the switch, SC and Gas Pedel.  Please advise if alterations should or should not be made. Maybe they are not cut so the pair will work in RHD or LHD cars.  Cut your own holes.  The rubber pads are quite long, going way up under the dash.  Mine are held in with screws.

Here's some dimensions from mine (1965 US model lhd). I'm unsure of the correct dimensions for the accelerator pedal cutout due to the damaged mat.

Dave, thanks for the time to blueprint the mat cutouts for me.  They should be posted in the Tech manual for everyone since the mats do not come cut.  John
