Hello there!

I am new to the group and about to purchase an Euro styled '66 230sl.  The car's title shows only the last 8 digits.  It does not have the first 6 digits (113.042)...  I guess that back in the day, the DMV clerk looked at the VIN plate and decided to capture the stamped digits only, leaving outside the first 6 digits.  I am wondering if this was common practices back in the day and if this will not be a big problem in the future when passing the car to the next owner.  Any feedback on this topic may be helpful in determining how to proceed with this issue.   Thank you!

Thoroughly check all the paperwork you got. Sometimes the data card is inside (stapled) the service or owners manual.
