help needed please
« on: October 10, 2022, 13:43:07 »
Hi all, I am in the process of fitting a 3.27 rear end to my 280. I am also having my speedo refurbed and the chap refurbing it has said he can recalibrate the speedo to match the new rear end using bits from a w108 4.5 speedo. Does any one know for a speedo from a w108 4.5 as they are not that common in the UK and have had no success on Ebay. Thanks

What was your old diff?
If you're within 10% difference in speed, no one can do anything about it. You'll know but...
(there's a speed/rev chart by diff on here somewhere)

The old one is 4.08 so quite a lot over 10%.At present its really noisy at anything above 60 MPH, It would be nice to get the speedo done as well.

Do you mean to ask if anyone has one for sale?  I suggest you post a topic in the Wanted To Buy forum so more people know you're looking.

The sedan speedometers are completely different than a W113. I don't think a 4.5 sedan speedometer or internal parts will be any kind of solution for your W113 speedometer.

I am going on the word of the person restoring my instruments. They seem sure it can be done. I guess time will tell.
I have read various posts and the name PAS comes up often, but as they are in the US and I live in the UK, I am after some one in the UK.
