Jack Point Cover Query
« on: September 16, 2022, 21:22:17 »
Just picked up a set of new jack point rubber covers. Will these actually remain in place? The fit is snug by not tight. I noticed in the technical manual that pictures of the highly original 230SL of Bob from Cascadia Classic has what looks like a small sheet metal screw holding each of them in. Hate drilling anything into the rocker panels but also don't want to lose these! Thanks for any input.

I thought the same when I fitted one new, I smashed it in place by hand and it stays there.
Haven’t been out driving on ruff roads so I don’t know if it stays during heavy vibrations from bad roads.

The covers on my car fit pretty tight, I have no concerns about them ever leaving accidentally. They have 'ribs' on the surface that provide the friction needed.

Did you buy repro or original mercedes?  I purchased original mercedes version from authentic classics recently and it fit very tight.  Had to use a rubber mallet to get it in all the way.  Price difference was $40 each vs $15 for the repros.

I bought the reproductions from Authentic Classics which are rubber rather than plastic apparently. To be honest, I think they'll be fine and stay put but there's a lot of experience on this board and I definitely was looking for a second opinion! Thanks all,
