Auto trans safety switch/ interlock
« on: November 28, 2021, 20:24:37 »
Auto transmission has been removed but the safety switch/ interlock remains. (65 230 sl) In order to start the car can anyone say if the lever on the switch should be all the way up ( or down) to replicate neutral or park on an auto box.
Thanks in anticipation

What a great anti-theft device!

"Park" would be all the way down, around four o'clock. "Neutral (0)" would be around three o'clock. There are two parallel lines cast into the cover. The lever should be positioned squarely between the lines in "Neutral (0).

You may have the 4-pin switch. Here's the corresponding diagram.

Thank you for your quick and helpful response. I do intend to use the switch for anti theft.
