Parking sensors license plate
« on: June 02, 2021, 10:24:20 »
Hi
I’m picking up a 280sl in 6 weeks. It’s in great condition and I’d like to do whatever I can to keep it that way.

I came across this https://fensens.com/
Camera sits in the license plate and connects to an app so no wiring or changes needed for the car. It might just mean more confidence parking in tight spots.

Just wondering if anyone looked at something like this?

Might seem overkill but as long as I doesn’t change the look and feel and adds extra protection I don’t see why not

It will change the look of the aft of your car vs. no frame around the plate or vs. some chrome thin one. But that is up to the owner.

What I would be careful about: check thoroughly the dimensions of the Euro plate frame they have. The space there in W113 is quite tight - the two embossed arch-like shapes going from bottom (where bumpers end) up and out may be in the way of frame bottom corners...  and you cannot go up with the plate.

I explored this, and even ordered one off amazon (though may have been a different brand) - decided it was too bulky in appearance and didn't suit the car, and was also put off by reported lag issues and difficulties in making sure the phone was correctly paired at the time that you needed the camera the most.

It was mainly the reported connectivity issues that ended up in me returning it - perhaps if you are willing to go the hardwired route it might be a more reliable solution.

Would be interested to know how you get on if you do buy it, can't deny the convenience/safety aspect.

It was something I might have done in the early '70s ----but not in the last 40 years! ;)
