Brake Proportioning Valve
« on: May 01, 2021, 00:35:24 »
I have a new ATE brake proportioning from a supplier that does not know the application and it is identical to the unit on my 70 280SL. My question is, do the numbers stamped on the end cap provide any information on the valve as they are different from my original valve. The number on the package in 3,6037-1037,3 and any help will be appreciated.

I would suggest you contact PMB performance in UT (855)786-7101. They rebuild these things and are familiar with which car this may fit. Porsche used these and are similar.

I am pretty sure those valves are all the same except calibration so if PMB has the spec they should be able to calibrate it for you.

FYI, I sent my proportioning valve to PMB for a rebuild. They did an amazing job and even replated the needed items. But they inadvertently used a “Porsche” spring when assembling mine and I had to send it back. They paid for all of the return shipping and were on top of it the entire time. Overall a good experience and would recommend them. I think my rebuild was around $175 or so. A whole lot cheaper than buying a new one.

So there are some minor internal parts that differ, but the function is the same.
