Spare Injection Pump
« on: February 26, 2021, 17:08:58 »
I have an second fuel injection pump out of my '71 280SL. It's complete but probably in need of a rebuild. What would be an appropriate value of this pump? Thanks from suburban Philadelphia.

It would be great if you can have it tested properly. Because the difference between a pump needing a rebuild, and one that has been tested and is ok, is probably a significant amount. I understand that these rarely need to be rebuilt, so you may be ok with yours. If it is in good shape, I would think it's worth at least around $1,750.

If it is a 24y ESP for a 71 US, the price should not be very high, at least in the EU.
In my experience, it makes no sense to reset a 24y. It is better to buy an EU pump and readjust it because of the changes.
In Europe, this 24y would hardly sell over 500 EUR.
A 24 is double that.
I have had quite a few pumps reset. None of the measured values in the initial protocol were OK after 50 years.
Certainly, almost all of them run somehow.
