Chrome moulding
« on: December 03, 2020, 10:18:07 »
Help needed.
I am fitting the rubber inserts into the chrome mouldings. There are 4 pairs of inserts.
I have a fifth pair of inserts but I can’t figure out where these go.
I would be grateful for help

Peter, I am talking about the chrome mouldings on the bottom side of the car. I have taken 2 photos.  I have accounted for all the rubber inserts. There are 2 left over. These rubber inserts are of the same shape and material as the ones go into the door mouldings.

Thanks. Is that your car. Looks smart. Did you change the colour of the upholstery or is this the original upholstery. Mine is silver like yours but the upholstery is black.
Anyway you are right about the 4 chrome mouldings. But I have an extra pair of rubber inserts. I wonder if somebody knows where these two rubbers go. As said before these rubbers are same as the ones in the mouldings
I am left with no mouldings where I could put these. These are definitely part of my car.

No, it is not my car.

There is no other location where you can use these inserts, but it is always good to have some spares in stock. :)

Bali, what length are the pieces you have left over?  And you have 4 pieces on each side of the car now?  The one behind the rear wheels is often missing on cars that have had body work.

All the 8 mouldings are fitted with their inserts.
Now on close look at the rubber
pair, these are same material but the cross section is different. These are about 14” long. They are not shaped to go into a groove as in the mouldings. They have a cut lengthwise to grip on to a metal edge. On one end it has 45% cut and the other end has gripping marks. Made of same material as the mouldings inserts.
It should jog someone’s memory I am sure. May be somewhere around the boot area ?
