Fitting Back FIP Splined Coupling

Please kindly help me make sure I understand this correct, here is a quote form ja17:

Does it mean that the place with empty space in the inner ring inside the splined coupling does not need to align with anything? Also: it seems also that it does not matter which way it goes on each shaft - there is no front and back of the splined coupling, is it correct?

I know the TDC+20 topic, I know the three marks alignment topic, no issue there. I was just not sure about the splined coupling and the above was the reference I found while doing my homework.

As I have the steering box out, I pulled FIP out as well to seal the bottom plate as it was leaking oil. The gasket that goes there is a separate interesting story as well, but I will write about it separately once I receive it from Bosch.

Just for fun I am attaching a picture of the main rack adjuster seen through its orifice.

The blank tooth on the IP drive gear should align with the slash-mark on the IP housing prior to assembly with the engine set to 20 ATDC. for the pagoda engine. The end of the IP drive shaft also has a slash mark which was most likely an assembly reference during assembly of the IP at the factory.

The splined coupling - we fit whichever way, correct? No marks to observe there?

Yes the splined coupling can fit any which way.

I will now just wait for the seal from Bosch, and I am ready to put FIP back in.
