Stone chip areas
« on: March 15, 2020, 16:29:45 »
Hello,
Does anyone have pictures of the original stone chip lines:
1. The wheel arch lip - where does it end?
2. Under the rear bumper?
3. Under the front bumper?

Thanks

Not sure what you are looking for but I don't recall any stone chip protection under either the front or rear bumpers on my car. Dark and cold out in the garage right now so I will take a look later. I do have a photo of my rear wheel well showing some of the undercoating but the actual "lip" is just gloss 050. The paint is original to the car.

My understanding is that horizontal edge of the wheel opening had a bit of undercoating on it.

On these original fenders the undercoat extends as shown. But does not extend onto the outer side of the panels beneath the bumpers.

Thanks DaveB, Benz Dr. and 49er.

I think the picture from DaveB shows a little of the stone chop on the lip as I thought.
