Brabus Pagoda resto shop
« on: April 15, 2020, 04:40:41 »
Hello All,

Buried within a long promo video for AMG, I stumbled across some interesting Pagoda restoration footage. I did not know that Brabus did restorations on our cars.

The excellent video shows Brabus technician teams working on w113s.

The good stuff starts about 28:25 minutes into the video and lasts for five minutes. I did learn a couple of little things
I did not know about. ENJOY!

Brabus does nice work and I would assume their mechanicals are spot on but The restorations I have seen are far from cosmetically correct.  Don't get me wrong they do very nice work but if your standard is "As it left the factory" then they have a ways to go.

We did look at another "Brabus" video some time ago.
The "shoe horn" protectors of the soft top fabric and rubber seals are a nice tip.

I fully agree with schvegel re: the standard of their restorations; they can rebuild to their hearts content, ok. But, do not claim that it is "as original, from M-B factory".
Because it simply is not.

What about those pieces that they have put in the jack holes to make it even easier to lift the car? Has anyone seen those for sale?
I know they would be easy to make, easy for some that is, but I would rather buy them.

Mark,
I enclose pictures. I did see this kind of device on offer (ebay?), so I think they are out there

I think Authentic Classics or pelican parts sells something similar to their jack adaptors.  I made some for my restoration out of some jack stands and then made custom dollies.  They were really nice.  They are out of the way and I can easily move the car around.

Hey Hans,
This is me, Mark  ;D , not Ralph.
We do have the same Grand Prix radios in our cars, so I can see why you confused us.  :o
I'm not sure if that will be funny or not, as I'm starting to go batty from the Covid situation.
And thanks to Shvegel (nice set up) and Hans for the additional info. I will look for those.
Take care,
Mark

Thanks Larry ! Very nice.
And, I apologize for contributing to the hijacking of your thread.
Back to the Brabus video: Thanks for posting it and focusing our attention on the timing in the vidio for the Pagoda.
Stay safe,
Mark
