He should almost be prosecuted for criminal neglect.

I would be very happy if I recalled I had that car in the shed, I just forgot about it...

Too bad they didn't mention why the car sat for so long.  Regardless, it was a fun video to watch.

Maybe the owner will join the Pagoda SL Group and we will learn more about the car and where it is currently.

Very interesting material. Does anyone know what happened next with this car?
Personally, I wonder if the engine started without problems?
Few years ago I bought a W111 Coupe, what sat about 20 years. The exterior was not a problem like you can see also in the case of this Pagoda, but engine had to be repaired (the bushes), but I used this occasion for full renovation of all aggregates.

Sebastian:

What do you mean by "bushes"? The crankshaft bushings?
My car sat for 25 years and I took the cylinder head off to look inside before starting it up and everything there was perfect. No rust or corrosion from sitting. I just watched an old "Chasing Classic Cars" again and they resurrected a Lamborghini GT that sat for almost 30 years. The poured "Mystery Oil" in the spark plug holes, let it sit for a couple of days and then turned the engine. It was not frozen, so they did not open it.

Mike:
I mean the bearings on the crankshaft. Still miss this kind of vocabulary in my English, but from the other side I am not a mechanic- so in general I try to understand the subject to be able to discuss about this or find the best solution. Like Jack Lemmon mentioned: nobody is perfect.

No offense intended, Sebastian. I was just trying to clarify what you meant. Normally, the crankshaft bearings/bushings don't go bad from the car sitting. Only if you start the engine with bad/no oil or a lot of water in it. I guess your W111 probably had that issue when it was parked and that was the reason it wasn't run for 20 years.

Mike:
Now I know, that we made at that time some mistakes. I think, that with my knowledge of today ( thanks also to this FORUM) I could avoid this problem. But I used this occasion to rebuild the engine.
