Who needs action adventure movies?
« on: January 02, 2020, 19:50:30 »
...just read about Carlos Ghosn...

PS. I found it a bit humorous that the photo from the LA Times article appears as if he has devil horns...

Michael, I would say "Who needs Reality TV".  You couldn't do better than this.  Very entertaining and I look forward to his press conference in a few days.  This is a movie in the making for sure.

After I wrote that, Jordan, even more lurid details emerged. It gets better by the day!
Secreted out in a large trunk made for audio gear. Private jets flying over Russian airspace. Rogue pilots. More passports than a well worn CIA operative. It just doesn't get any better.

I can't wait for the movie!

Looks like a bit of corporate intrigue that blew up in everybody's face.  Nissan not improved by it all!

Even while he was on the pinnacle of his career, he was a controversial figure. I worked in the automotive industry all my life and I remember many of us 'insiders" did not care for Goshn's attitude of entitlement and his self-serving comments about his own deserving. Him always bragging about how great he was and deserving of the large amounts of money remind me of somebody else....

Let's see...

Carlos Ghosn
Henry Ford II
Sergio Marchionne
John DeLorean
Elon Musk

all share some of those characteristics...and that's just the auto guys. But I don't think anyone escaped virtual imprisonment like Ghosn! Again, waiting for the film adaptation...

I take Sergio Marchionne out of this club. He moved his office from the lonely top of the Chrysler building down to the others exec offices on a lower floor. 8)

I agree and would add Jürgen Schrempp instead.

No way.

Sergio was specifically named in a lawsuit, filed in November, of "orchestrating a multimillion-dollar racketeering conspiracy that corrupted three rounds of bargaining with the United Auto Workers"  The UAW is rightly under fire for a lot of corruption and the iceberg has just been spotted...not even really uncovered yet.

Sergio's gone of course but his legacy lives on.

So, I leave him in there, and I totally forgot about Juergen. I didn't mean my list was comprehensive...

I think Zetsche was/is worse than Jürgen Schrempp. He is part of the 'inner circle", the Piëch clan.

...worse than Jürgen Schrempp...

Around these parts, it's mostly ancient history now, but there is still some harboring a lot of resentment...and Schrempp doesn't come out looking nice; in fact, he looked downright like an evil villain in a James Bond movie. If you haven't already, may I suggest you read the book. If you read the book years ago, a refresh read is enlightening.
