Becker Europa LMKUUU

I just wanted to check: does the radio stations pre-setting works the same on Becker Europa LMKUU and LMKUUU (3 UHF bands)?

I have troubles finding a post or a manual on the web specifically on LMKUUU (3 bands). I tried to pull out buttons, they do not want to go out, I am afraid I will break something...

Also: what is the lever under the right hand side (tuning) knob for?

What I found on the web suggests that pre-set mechanism is the same as on other Beckers - pull out button, then press in, I just wanted to confirm. I am enclosing what I found - for a different radio with same amount of buttons.

M is AM.  U is FM.  I don't know if you set the presets by pulling out the button then pushing it in, I've never had a 6 button Becker.  The arm to the right of the tuning knob is probably distance/hiway/local or something like that, but it could be balance if it's a stereo unit.

It is not a stereo unit.

I think I read somewhere that lever may be switch between the radio frequency tuning and the automatic tuning unit. Not sure though.

Yes: the main is confirmation if pre-setting works the same as in 5 button radio.

Perhaps it was just used to get the knob shaft distances right?

Mike from Chrome London was kind enough to answer me very quickly: the way of stations programming is the same, but they are afraid to use it on the 6 button radios as they get jammed often.

Ok, thanks to Mike's patience:

1. The knob is to switch the regular radio signal off and switch to old German traffic communications signal, no longer available
2. The programming, as I wrote, is done the same way on the 6 button radios as on the 5 buttons. But the mechanism is different and it has tendency to jam.

Does it make sense to modernize these kind of radio's? And does somebody know a good address in The Netherlands?
In other words: I am looking for some advice from you as expert members!

1.  When the previous owner installed a more modern radio, was the dash cut to allow for a DIN size radio?  Or was the smaller space left intact?
2.  Some people have modernized the guts of their radios.  I don't have a recommendation for where to do that, but I would ask what is your goal?  If you just want the radio to play through the center dash speaker and don't need it to be super loud or fancy, just go with original.

Dear Scott, thanks for your reply. The dash still has the original fitting. However, the replacement radio is all black and I really like the look of the Becker.  I would really like to install the old one and A: make it work so I can connect my Ipod or B: just install it and put a modern radio in the trunk.
I prefer the first option but I have no idea is it is feasible...

I agree with you completely.  I think "other" radios just look bad in the dash of a Pagoda.  You would be looking for a SMALL FACE Europa TR, and then you would add a cable connector that either let you plug your ipod into it or a bluetooth plug in that you let you connect with BT.   Lots of people have done this.  ChromLondon or Becker Autosound (in New Jersey) either might be able to sell you what you want.  But share pics of what you are going to buy first so others can say "Yes, that looks right" or "no that looks wrong".

Do you have the 5 pin socket in the back of that radio? If so, chances are it would work with adapter.

I think if you want to ask a question, write an e-mail to Koenigs Classic Radio or Chrome of London.

An AM radio is useless in the Netherlands. AM transmissions were stopped in 2019. You'll need FM or DAB+ to get sound...
