Buds Benz AC Pulley Alignment
« on: December 10, 2018, 19:44:18 »
Trying to help out a friend. Does anyone who installed the Buds Benz underhood air conditioning had any water pump pulley alignment   issues?  Belt is fraying after 300 miles.

Hi progress update ...
I am having an 80/100 mm spacer made up  ( 2 mm ) at the crank to match  the water pump pulley
I used thick gasket paper to mock  this up.
once that is set you can move onto the air cond belt ......
First i matched the idler pulley they sent to the air cond  unit ( a bunch  of washers did the trick )then bought a belt that actually fit.
I need about 2 more  mm between the new double row pulley and the crank/ harmonic balancer .
I ended up spacing out the compressor (more washers )
the exciting thing is the  power steering pump seems to have a floating shaft ,and it will slide out to match the new position nicely .
( please check this on yours to make sure my rebuild guy wasnt lying his ass off ! )
I can only assume buds have changed the compressors for something with a different  ear, that has pushed the belts out , that was my next option , trying to machine back the ears (or remake that barbecue plate )

cheers and good luck

Even adding a Sanden compressor on the stock bracket can be an issue,  I must have unbolted the compressor 6 times to get it all lined up.
